Personal Letter - Who am I?

Hello!

My name is Rikard Alesö. I am 25 years old and I live in Gothenburg, Sweden.

I've studied Game Design at Blekinge Tekniska Högskola for 3 years. There I learned the elements of dramaturgy and work based on given guidelines and framework. We also got a good insight into programming to improve our ability to understand games development.

I really burn for game development since I’m a part of the culture and it would be amazing to be a part of what I love. I hope that I in the future can give other the experiences that I’ve had when gaming, and I’m ready to work hard to achieve that. I and have a lot of work experience outside the game industry, such as personal assistance and as a librarian. This has made me service minded and organized as well as empathic and flexible with good habits when working in a group.

I feel it’s time to move on from my old job and I'm ready to take on new adventures and the challenges that it may bring. I consider myself a work horse in general, so you will see someone with good ethics and a happy co-worker. I also have a huge interest in history and philosophy, which I have used for game concepts during my studies.

In my spare time I like to express my love for games and fiction by cosplaying and attending conventions and gaming events. I love being social and making new friends at such events. Large crowds and attention are not an issue, but I also don’t crave it.

People see me as very positive and energetic, with a sense of humor and compassion.

I attended samhällsprogrammet at Rudbecksgymnasiet in Tidaholm, after that I studied Game Design at Blekinge institute of Technology. There I learned to work independently, learn about different devolopment frameworks like SCRUM and waterfall model, work with cases from companies, analyzing stories in video games and movies and to lead project groups.

I'm used to deal with lot of stress, working late at nights or really early in the morning, and I understand the importance of organization. I've been credited for working really hard, think outside the box, being a sociable co-worker, good at giving feedback as a project leader, and I love to challenge myself. For example; During my studies, while others students drew inspirations from movies, I got inspiration from reading history, psychology and even philosophy.
